There are quite a few acronyms having many full forms. Here the topic that will be discussed is in fact that of Combined Graduate Level. CGL is an acronym that stands for Combined Graduate Level. It is an exam. It is commonly known as SSC CGL. Here SSC stands for Staff Selection Commission. It is known as SSC CGL. This is in fact an examination and is conducted to recruit staff to a lot of posts. These posts may be in the field of ministries as well. This also includes the field of departments and organizations of the Government of India as well.

This Combined Graduate Level is in fact conducted by the body of Staff Selection Commission. And this very thing is for selecting staff for various Group like that of Group B and Group C posts. The conduction body here that is Staff Selection Commission was established in 1975.

Eligibility for SSC CGL Exam

There are criteria to be an aspirant for Combined Graduate Level examination. In this section you will get to know about the eligibility criteria for Combined Graduate Level. Well the things that are needed for CGL aspirants are listed below-

  1. The first main thing for aspirant is that he or she must have a graduate degree. The Graduate degree is very compulsory for each and every aspirants. This can be easily well guessed from the full form CGL that is Combined Graduate level.
  2. There is also minimum age limit for this CGL examination. And here the minimum examination age limit is 18 years. Also apart from this there is maximum age limit as well. Well the maximum age limit for the examination is 30 years.
  3. Well the main noticeable thing is here is that the above criteria may be changed. This in fact depends upon the willing posts. In other words the condition for qualification as well as age limits may vary according to the desired posts.
  4. Therefore every guys and girls should check the eligibility norms for the respective posts before they apply for the examination. This should be keep in mind while applying.

Thus these are some of the eligibility criteria for combined graduate level examination. Well let me come on the another thing that is about the pattern of examination.

Exam Pattern

Well dear SSC CGL  follows a definite pattern in the course of conducting examination. Now the exam is generally held in tiers. For the very exam there is a follow up of two tiers examination. These are known as tier I and tier II. And there are different pattern for this two tier examination. Well let me here tell you about both of them that is tier I as well as tier II.

In Tier I, Student have to go through our subjects. These four subjects are listed below-

  • The first one is General Intelligence and reasoning.
  • General Awareness.
  • Quantitative aptitude.
  • And the last one is English Comprehension.

These are the four subjects in the examination of Combined Graduate level. And the main thing is that all the above listed four subjects will be of 50 marks each. Thus total maximum marks will be of 200.

There is a total time duration of 2 hours that is 120 minutes. And for visually impaired aspirants there is 160 minutes that is 2 hours and 40 minutes.

Well after tier I, there is tier II for CGL aspirants. There is another different pattern for the tier II aspirants. Here you have to go through following-

  1. Quantitative Aptitude
  2. English Language and Comprehension
  3. Mathematics/statistics/Economics/commerce

The first one is Quantitative Aptitude and this is of 100 marks. On the anther hand the second one i.e English Language and Comprehension will be of 200 marks. The last one that is mathematics/statistics/economics/Commerce will be held of 100 marks.

Here you will get two hours. The candidate who is visually impaired will be given 2 hours and 40 minutes. The Application fee will be Rs. 100.

Structure of CGL

The examination that is Combined Graduate Level here actually consists of a Preliminary examination and then followed by a main examination. Firstly every candidate have to go through a preliminary exam and after then there is a Main examination. Previously it also used to have interviews. But there was a government order. After that very order, the interview pattern was dispensed off. The fact is that earlier it used to have interviews. But after following the system policy, interviews have been dispensed off. And this was for all non gazetted posts in the Central government. But also a computer proficiency test or a skill test will be going to be organized for some definite posts.

Some facts

In 2016, 0.6 million candidates in fact appeared in the preliminary  exam against 0.3 candidates who had registered for the CGL examination. This exam was held in 43 batches in 415 venues. These were across 96 cities.

Also candidates are permitted to view their answer sheets and point out mistakes in the grading of answers. For this there will be a fee norm of Rs. 100 per question. So this is very important thing for students who want to get their paper reviewed.
