Well guy and girls MMS messages are different from SMS. The way of delivering messages in the case of MMS is quite different if we compare it with that of the SMS. The first step is for the sending device to encode the multimedia content in a very fashion that is similar to sending a MIME message. It is to kept in mind that MIME content formats are defined in the MMS Message Encapsulation Specification. The message is then forwarded to the carrier’s MMS store and forward server, called by the name of the MMSS. This very term that is MMSC in fact stands for Multimedia Messaging Service Centre. Also the receiver is on a carrier different from the sender, then the MMSC acts as a relay, and forwards the message to the MMSC of the recipients carrier using the very Internet.

Challenges for MMS

Well dear here I am going to explain some of the challenges Multimedia Messaging Services face actually. The fact is that there are quite a few interesting challenges with that of MMS. And these very challenges that are in the field of this MMS, actually do not exist with that of SMS.  Also Handset configuration can cause issues in course of sending as well as receiving messages. Here I am sharing with you some of the interesting challenges that are really noticeable.

  • Content Adaption- The first one is Content Adaption here.Multimedia content created by one brand of MMS phone may not be totally compatible with the capabilities of the recipient’s MMS phone. The recipient MMSC is responsible for providng for content adaption. As for example, image resizing, and so on.
  • Well apart from content adaption there are also many challenges. The other one is Distribution Lists. Actually current MMS specifications do not include distribution lists. Also there is no methods to address large number of recipients conveniently.
  • Also there is issue of Bulk messaging. The flow of peer to peer MMS messaging includes several over the air transactions which become inefficient when MMS is used to send messages to large number of subscribers. This can be viewed as typically the case for VASPs.
  • The next one is the case of handset configuration. MMS requires in fact a number of handset parameters to be set. Poor handset configuration is often blamed as the first point of failure for many users.
  • WAP Push is also one of the matter among them.
